DTOY – One community for all transformation leaders

Digital transformation – some can no longer hear the term, but that doesn’t change the ever-increasing relevance of this topic for companies. On the contrary, despite its presence, digital transformation is not being adequately implemented in large parts of the German economy. In our latest study, 21% of German companies say that they see little progress in digital transformation in their industry.

We want to change that: Started with the “Digital Transformer of the Year” award, we have since grown into the overarching “DTOY Initiative” and thus into a community of CEOs, CDOs and other transformation leaders who support each other in their professional challenges. Whether through the impulses and networking on the evening of the award, through the leading study or through further offers tailored to the wishes of the community in our DTOY toolbox – we are closely connected with our members and stand by their side in tackling the major topic of this decade, digital transformation.

The Award

The "Digital Transformer of the Year 2018" was awarded on 6th of November 2018 in the capital branch of Microsoft in the automotive, mechanical and plant engineering, industry and technology, energy and media sectors.

Why did we launch the initiative?

With the DTOY initiative around the “Digital Transformer of the Year” we – _MEDIATE and the specialist media house Vogel Communications Group, in cooperation with the Steinbeis School of Management and Innovation of the Steinbeis University Berlin, want to make a contribution to digital transformation in Germany. In this way, we strengthen the future viability of the German economy.

During many years as a transformation consultancy, _MEDIATE has already gained and actively shaped diverse experience with the challenges, potentials and concrete successes in the course of the digital transformation of established companies in projects.

As one of the leading specialist media companies in Germany, the Vogel Communications Group sees the developments, trends and effects in the field of digital transformation across various industries every day and supports those responsible in the companies by providing added-value content.

The SMI Steinbeis School of Management and Innovation of the Steinbeis University Berlin supports the initiative as the largest private university for leadership, digitization and transformation.

The “Digital Transformer” is not just an award ceremony, but part of an initiative to help CEOs, CDOs and other transformation leaders successfully master this extremely challenging task. Digital transformation threatens the very foundations of companies. Everyone who wants to ward off the associated threats or seize opportunities needs a well-equipped toolbox. That’s why we developed such a toolbox, with tools for exactly those topics that you have been particularly interested in in our surveys.

The Study

Specialists and executives from various industries take a critical look at the current state of digital transformation in their industry. This is the conclusion reached by the Digital Transformer of the Year (DTOY) initiative. Last year, the initiative surveyed specialists and executives from German companies – and also presents the DTOY Awards for those companies that represent lighthouses in the field of digital transformation through particularly successful transformation processes.
